Death to station games!

No, no incident promoted the title of this post. I was reading over the minutes of the latest CSM meeting and spotted something: A proposal from CCP wherein if a ship is warp scrambled, it can't dock (page 14 near the bottom)...

Must now go get drool bucket...

One of the most odious forms of warfare in EVE is the one where someone fights within docking range of a station and the minute things start to look bad, they dis-engage weapons and once the timer is up - dock.

This should make things "interesting" if it ever goes live.

No doubt it would make things interesting, and while I certainly hate station games as much as the next pilot... there are two sides to it. Being the bushwacker is always more fun than the schmuck being bushwacked.

If they do this then they have to give us an overview inside the station.

hah, makes sense. why can't i just look out the station windows to see whose outside?
either that or you can pick an alternative docking port 30km away :D
so if youre in something slow they can still MWD in range before you warp

Go read the CSM minutes - it's associated with being able to see the overview of the station grid from within the station.

Besides guys the only ships that play "station games" are BS and carriers/dreads. Most other ships are dead before the timers are up anyways.

The last time I talked about station f... games I had the most comments I had ever received for one of my posts, lost one follower, but gained 2 or 3. But I still stand by what I think of station games.

This seems to be a step in the right direction, and if it comes to pass the fail-piwat tears will be just as sweet as the carebear ones.

Can't wait to read the minutes cuz now I can't (still at work) but I'm also thinking of other annoyances like logoffski tactics, self-destruction to deny killmails, etc.

Ah the self destruct to avoid kill mails IS addressed (just not as personally interesting to me being the more result oriented type). Remember I'm of the "combat should be in pursuit of an objective, not the objective itself" type.

The 2 things that should change on "docking games" is logistics not getting properly flagged and having the same rules on all station types.
Logistics not getting a no-docking timer when repping someone with a no-docking timer is silly.
Right now, some stations spit you out, some have you undock outside of docking range while some others have you so far inside docking range you have to move 30 km before you even exit docking range from where you start on undocking. Either make all stations spit people out or all dump people outside of docking range or have all stations leave you well inside docking range on undock. Not this silly crap.
If I read it right, the CCP idea was without the overview thing, who hires these people that think that's a great idea =|(without overview in station thing). I personally think a more elegant solution would be changing the no-docking timer based on ship size. Let's say as example, 2-5 mins. for a BS, 5-10 mins. for a carrier/dread.

"Interesting" in that it will both make certain kinds of station games no longer viable, but looks like it will just encourage larger station camps. I'm kind of torn on the change myself.

As long as I have some method for checking outside a station before undocking, I approve of this change.

I'm torn both ways on this...for a few reasons.

First off...I like to play station games with people...but I don't like them to play them with me...so...yeah...

though I do think if they implement this it MUST be in conjunction with being able to see the station grid on overview inside station...
