The reason for this is that even though we tend to fight in falloff, getting that falloff further out helps. Seriously an optimal bonus when you're armed with auto-cannons not that useful, a falloff bonus with artillery is ok, but not quite as useful as an optimal bonus.

The truth is that you need to compare the size of both your optimal and falloff on any particular weapon. The weapon benefits most from a bonus on which ever one is larger.

Note that ammo range changes only affect optimal, therefore which bonus is actually better can change with what ammo you load.Letrangehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16433319509081349521noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7072295959847306495.post-78795887102597540252008-10-30T07:48:00.000-07:002008-10-30T07:48:00.000-07:00"As a rule of thumb, optimal bonuses benefit long ..."As a rule of thumb, optimal bonuses benefit long ranged weapons and falloff benefit shortranged."

Well usually optimal is for railguns/blasters/lasers while falloff is for both autocannons/projectiles.

Nevertheless, good read and explanation! The first ship to get me in trouble with CONCORD as I was swatting rat frigs so fast I forgot I had someones wreck targetted for salvaging purposes (when you're a noob, ISK is good!) and the guns that hadn't fired on the rat did so on the wreck, at which points donuts get dropped and poof goes ship.

And now I'm 3 days from jumping into its Tech 2 sibling, the Sabre; a flying rusty coffin called Primary :))Benoit CozmikR5 Gauthierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15344632862155047695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7072295959847306495.post-46301295236597106512008-10-29T10:57:00.000-07:002008-10-29T10:57:00.000-07:00That was an AWESOME ANALYSIS!!!They should have st...That was an AWESOME ANALYSIS!!!

They should have stuff like this in E-ON!

You should take requests as to other ships to analyze!Bahamuthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10317770019024827162noreply@blogger.com
